Carpet Kneekick

A carpet knee kicker (sometimes written as “kneekick”) is a tool used by carpet installers to stretch carpet into place during installation. It’s specifically designed for smaller areas like hallways, closets, or stairs where a power stretcher either won’t fit or isn’t necessary.

Here’s how it works:

  • The tool has a padded end that the installer literally “kicks” with their knee.

  • The opposite end has teeth or prongs that grip the carpet.

  • When the installer gives it a firm knee bump, it pushes the carpet forward and stretches it tightly toward the wall or tack strip.

  • It helps ensure the carpet lays flat and doesn’t wrinkle or buckle.

While it sounds aggressive, the tool is all about precision and control, not brute force. It’s a must-have for finishing edges cleanly or getting a snug fit around tight corners.
