Operations Manager

Job Description

The Operations Manager will be responsible for the overall performance of multiple Pro Star Rental stores in the assigned region, which include Dallas, Waxahachie, Waco, Wichita Falls, and Belton. In addition to achieving targeted financial results and key operating metrics, overall performance includes hiring and developing store leaders and staff, ensuring safety practices are followed, providing outstanding customer service, assisting with equipment procurement and availability, and handling any issues that arise from time to time.

  • Leadership abilities to develop store managers and improve operational performance for all stores in assigned region.
  • Knowledge of construction equipment
  • Prior experience in equipment rental as a store manager
  • Financial analysis skills to understand income statements
  • Ability to physically inspect the rental yard for maintenance needs and safety hazards
  • Good communication skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • A leader with strong self motivation and energy to manage employees
  • Experience in hiring/firing and leading multiple employees
  • Ability to train and create a culture of accountability with all employees
  • Some sales experience and phone skills
  • Ability to secure equipment loads and make deliveries when necessary to provide good customer service
  • Ability to establish contacts and cultivate relationships
  • Ability to learn and use the company’s computer system

The ideal candidate will:

· Be a self-starter, able to thrive and motivate themselves (and their team) in an environment where they are not micromanaged.

· Have experience in operations management, including P&L responsibility.

· Have some heavy equipment experience, either rental, sales, or operations.

· Understand how to manage employees, their needs, and morale.

· Be willing to be part of the team, providing help at the service level both inside and outside of the showroom when there is a backlog of customers

· Be focused on safety, specifically only renting equipment to people who are capable of not only transporting the equipment (can't try and put it on a vehicle that is too small), but also confident in using it when they get it home.

Duties:

  • Manage team of store managers and their staff of at least 5 per store including counter sales, mechanic, CDL driver, etc.
  • Ensure safety practices are communicated and followed consistently
  • Ensure stores are staffed appropriately and employee work hours are scheduled during hours of operation
  • Ensure equipment is well maintained and in good condition
  • Ensure services are priced properly, and fees are collected promptly
  • Generate revenue and manage costs to maintain required profitability levels of stores
  • Ensure all stores achieve utilization targets consistently
  • Identify new equipment categories for growth

  • Bonus calculated annually on region performance with an advance around mid-year. Can be substantial depending on store profitability and growth.
