The Counter Salesperson will perform a variety of tasks to ensure smooth branch operation. This person will prepare rental orders to go to customers. He/she must have a professional demeanor and be able to provide excellent customer service. Pro Star Rental is a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Tasks assigned to The Counter Salesperson include, but are not limited to:
- Rents equipment and arranges for provisions of service for customers through person to person interaction and over the phone discussions, followed by inputting the information into the computer system.
- Prepares rental forms and contracts, obtains customer signatures and other information as required.
- Maintains the daily contract file.
- Explains rental fees and provides information about rented items, such as operations and descriptions.
- Processing payments & deposits both in cash and credit cards as well as making change.
- Balances credit cards along with balancing computer system throughout the day.
- Answers telephone calls and receives orders by phone.
- Recommends rental and sales items to customers to meet their needs.
- Reserves items for requested time.
- Updates and calls overdue list daily and alerts supervisor of overdue contracts.
- Receives incoming inventory.
- Inventories retail sales merchandise and advises supervisor of low levels of merchandise.
- Acts as sales administrator on rental, sale and repair contracts.
- Assists in accounts payable duties to include PO’s, file organization, data entry, and other related tasks.
- Assists in accounts receivable duties to include sending out invoices, applying payments and filing.
- Reports safety violations to supervisor.
- Assists customers with the loading and unloading of equipment when necessary. May also need to demonstrate safety features and operational features of the equipment.
- Cleans showroom and equipment. Arranges showroom displays, keeps shelves organized, stocked and clean. May also clean customer restrooms.
- Occasional exposure to the elements.
- Performs duties in compliance with company safety standards.
- Performs other duties as requested
- Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting and maneuvering material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
- Typically, in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes, which may cause noticeable discomfort.
HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through a high school education with technical training.
- Selling experience.
- High school equivalency math skills required
- Mechanical troubleshooting experience is very helpful
- Familiarity with surrounding areas would be helpful as well as the ability to read and understand maps of the city and surrounding areas
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, non-verbal, listening and presentation skills
- Excellent analytical skills such as problem solving and the ability to interpret policies, procedures and guidelines
- A complete knowledge of the market and the product with the ability to discuss the technical aspects of machinery such as aerial lifts, welders, generators, light towers and heavy machinery
- Strong leadership skills such as creative thinking, decision making and goal setting
- Moderate computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office software such as Word and Excel. Moderate experience using data base systems.
- Must be able to lift 70+ pounds on an as needed basis in order to assist customers with products
- Must be able to operate all equipment safely
